Conques and its abbey
France

Nestled deep in the Ouche Valley, Conques was raised in a circus evoking the shape of a shell. Its ocher and pink shades warm the heart of visitors and pilgrims walking towards Saint-Jacques de Compostela.

The pearl of Conques is none other than the Abbey Sainte-Foy. Originally the abbey included a chapel. Crowded forces after the arrival of the relics of Sainte-Foy, the abbey was built in the eleventh century. It is now a World Heritage Site by Unesco.

The interior is in majesty, sobriety and verticality (vault height: 22 m!). The windows were completed in 1994 by Pierre Soulages. Their translucent white preserves the natural brightness and purity of the place. Do not miss the treasure, which contains a rich collection of church silver. We finally wanders beautifully restored Romanesque cloister.
